This massive 40,000 square foot touring exhibition (debuting in LA on May 6 and running until July 6) celebrates street art. It will include immersive installations such as a playable handball court decorated by famed graffiti artist Lee Quiñones and a fully skatable recreation of the Venice Beach skate destination, Venice Pavilion. 


The new TV series, adapted from Stephanie Danler’s best-selling novel of the same name, follows 22-year-old Tess (played by British actress Ella Purnell) as she tries to make her way in the captivating and chaotic New York City restaurant world. The first season debuts on May 6 on Starz.

At this Harvard Book Store event (taking place May 16 in Cambridge, Massachusetts), Pollan and another heavyweight journalist, Pulitzer Prize-winning Ron Suskind, discuss the latest frontier of brain science and mind-altering drugs.

First held in San Francisco in 1912 to lift morale after the 1906 earthquake, the annual Bay to Breakers race (taking place May 20) has grown into one of the largest in the world, setting a Guinness Book world-record for 110,000 participants in 1986, which was held until 2010. And instead of typical running gear, many athletes choose to don a <a href="https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/The-best-Bay-Area-themed-Bay-to-Breakers-costumes-11150451.php" target="_blank">creative costume</a>.

Chicago’s famous Lake Shore Drive path goes car-free for almost five hours during the annual Bike the Drive event (taking place May 27), which includes a 30-mile challenge along the shores of Lake Michigan. The fundraiser benefits the Active Transportation Alliance’s work to improve biking, walking, and transit throughout the city.
