They give you (and your baby) the nutrients you need.
It can be hard to find the time to cook nutritious meals in the beginning stages of motherhood, but it’s important that both mom and baby eat well from the start. Research shows that what children eat early on affects their diet for the rest of their lives. “Unfortunately, most of the options for new eaters aren’t full of the nutrients they need for development,” says Marissa Lippert, RD, a New York City-based nutritionist. That’s what inspired her to start Nourish Baby, a food-delivery service for parents and newborns. Her dishes are tailored to each stage of growth, and they focus on healthy sources of fats, iron, and protein. For moms, Lippert recommends foods that restore energy and improve breast milk production. Here, she shares two recipes for new moms and one recipe for babies that can make the early years easier, healthier, and more delicious.
