It could lead to stronger effects.
CBD is emerging as a potent health-promoting compound. Still, misinformation abounds. To set the record straight, Furthermore has partnered with Papa & Barkley, the official CBD balm for targeted massages at EQX Body Lab, so you can optimize your CBD intake.
The gist:
Taking CBD every once in awhile isn’t a bad thing, but turn it into a daily habit and the compound could have a stronger effect on you.
Expert insight:
The naturally occurring receptors in your endocannabinoid system (which regulates the central nervous system and helps your body maintain homeostasis) interact with CBD and other compounds to reduce anxiety, ease inflammation, and more. Using CBD regularly may increase activity in the system as a whole, says Laura Lagano, RD, co-founder of the Holistic Cannabis Academy in Boulder, Colorado. In turn, you could feel more effects from each single dose than you would if you took it sporadically.
If you’re not a daily user, Lagano suggests you start low and go slow rather than jumping into the new regimen head first. Studies show daily intake is usually well tolerated but can, in rare cases, lead to fatigue and weight changes.
The bottom line:
Start with a quarter dropper (or 7.5 milligrams) of a full-spectrum CBD oil under the tongue every other day with a high-fat snack (like cheese or avocado) to increase absorption rates. Wait 60 seconds before swallowing.
If after one week you don’t feel any negative side effects, increase your frequency to every day. Once you understand how CBD interacts with your body, upping your dose to 15 to 30 mg per day can ease anxiety and more intense soreness.
