The band's keyboardist counts sit-ups and planks among his go-to exercises.
While on tour, Joywave keyboardist Benjamin Bailey has a surprising amount of downtime. “Between arriving at the venue, sound check, and actually performing, it’s easy to get lost in your phone,” he says. “I try to step out to go for a run, do sit-ups, push-ups, planks, and anything else I can do to keep my physical and mental health in check.” In fact, it's a priority. "Even if some days working out is the last thing I want to do, I never regret it,” he adds.
After spending the past four years on the road, the musician and his fellow bandmates are quite familiar with exhaustion. Their rigorous touring has been in support of two acclaimed albums, How Do You Feel Now? and Content. Joywave's third album, POSSESSION, will be released in early 2020 and one of its songs, "Obsession," is already gaining traction. Bailey shared a workout playlist of personal favorites for Furthermore that includes hip hop and alt-rock.
