Cactus fiber, seaweed, and eucalyptus are just a few of the materials that are used in Coco-Mat’s all-natural mattresses. The handmade mattresses—found in Equinox Hotel guest rooms—were designed to provide "the best sleep experience without toxic chemicals, synthetic materials, or metal,” according to Paul Efmorfidis, who founded the company in 1989.
