New brands include Live The Process and Fourlaps.
The Shop at Equinox is an ever-evolving concept store, with new brands and pieces constantly being added to the mix. This winter, four labels will join the offerings: Year Of Ours, Live The Process, Fourlaps, and Christina Lehr. Furthermore spoke to members of Equinox's retail team along with the founders of each line about their creative visions, exercise regimens, and more.
Year Of Ours
"Year Of Ours is the ultimate sporty-sexy performance brand," says Lisa Chiswick, Equinox's New York City–based retail buyer. "I fell in love with how the styles look on the body and the way the pieces play with color," she adds. Says Eleanor Haycock, the brand's Los Angeles–based founder, "We are all about women and making clothing for women's bodies. If you feel good wearing something, it's super empowering. We want all of our customers to feel that when they wear Year Of Ours." According to Haycock, pieces made from their active rib material are the top sellers. "The ribbed football legging and bralette are musts."
Haycock's fitness routine: "My go-tos are hot yoga, boxing, cycling, Pilates, and hiking."
Live The Process
"As I watched Live The Process collections merge ballet-inspired styles with sportswear, it became clear that this line would be a win with our customer," explains Chiswick. She calls it "the perfect blend of feminine, comfortable, functional, and timeless," while the company's New York City–based co-founder Robyn Berkley describes it as both fashion-driven and active. The Shop's selection will include ribbed pants along with other knit items that can be worn with performance tops and running tights post-workout or paired with jeans or a dress.
Berkley's fitness routine: "My workout routine constantly evolves, but I am serious about my yoga practice. It's what keeps me grounded and makes my body feel open and alive. All of the breathing reduces stress and anxiety, as you have to be so present. Otherwise, I do Pilates and functional training."
Fourlaps
"The men's performance brand Fourlaps has everything our [members] are looking for: soft yet durable fabrics and smart design details," says Mai-Vi Nguyen, Equinox's New York City–based senior assistant retail buyer. An Equinox member, founder Daniel Shapiro is excited about the partnership. "I love the vibe, the environment, the staff, and the classes," he says. The line was named after the four laps that it takes to go around a track. "Running the mile is your first athletic milestone, but it's not all about that. It's about what happens afterwards—the challenge and progression of working out for your body and mind," explains Shapiro. The Shop will feature their Level Tee (made with a technology that keeps your body temperature steady), the best-selling 7" Bolt Short, and more.
Shapiro's fitness routine: "I generally work out six days a week including lifting and cardio. It's an important part of my day, it clears my head. The Gramercy location is a block from my office, so I go there often."
Christina Lehr
According to Chiswick, versatile pieces that work for both the gym and street have become a large part of The Shop's business. "We've challenged ourselves to find brands that fill a white space in this category. Christina Lehr offers elevated, casual women's essentials." Growing up above her father's SoHo clothing shop, Lehr has been immersed in design since childhood. After this early exposure, she studied garment construction, fabric weaving, and pattern making, spent time working with her father, and ultimately launched her eponymous label in 2003. The Shop will feature her sweats and thermals. "They're something every girl can live in and wear to and from the gym," Lehr says.
Lehr's fitness routine: "I love combining classes with outdoor activities. I cycle and do yoga and other strength workouts in addition to kayaking and taking five-mile beach hikes with my dog. I also recently tried surfing and that for me is a game changer—a great workout as well as a head-clearer."
