With the launch of the signature class, Equinox will become your go-to boxing destination.
It’s time to unleash your inner fighter. Starting this month, Equinox members will have the opportunity to slip on a pair of gloves and jab, cross, and uppercut their way to a new level of coordination and agility in ROUNDS: Boxing Circuit, the latest signature boxing class.
The new offering heavily prioritizes boxing-specific drills and building stamina and precision, says Julie Bellis, a group fitness instructor at Equinox Lincoln Common. ROUNDS: Boxing Circuit features multiple stations, all designed with the boxer in mind. Along with conditioning drills, you’ll spend a lot of time hitting the heavy bags and focus mitts, just like you’re prepping to step out into the ring. With so many different combos and opportunities to punch, you’ll want to take this class on repeat.

You’ll spend three minutes at a station before moving to the next, with just 30 seconds to complete the transition. It’s a fast-paced class, an intentional feature, says Bellis. In the final three working minutes of class, every member will come together for a final knockout round — a moment to fully empty the tank. “Members will ‘Feel the Fight’ during class, receive a top-notch boxing experience, and feel empowered and fulfilled after the Final Bell,” Bellis adds. “After class, you will also feel tough enough to take on Tyson!”
Personal boxing gloves are recommended, but each Club will have a few sets of courtesy gloves available. Throughout the workout, you’ll train your muscular and mental endurance, cardiovascular system, speed, reactivity, and power, plus enhance your mind-body connection. “[Your strength and power] is coming from the ground up,” says Bellis. “What your feet are doing to maximize your punches is incredible. It’s a connection from the ground, from what your feet are doing, to what your hips are doing, to your core that throws that punch.”

Rookies, fear not. ROUNDS: Boxing Circuit is accessible to boxers of all levels. At the start of each class, the instructor will demo the main punches you’ll be using throughout class and more. “So if you’re brand new, you don’t even have to have an orthodox or a southpaw stance,” says Bellis. “If you don’t know what that means, we teach that in the beginning, before we even put gloves on and get on those bags.”
Since ROUNDS: Boxing Circuit challenges nearly every element of your fitness in just 50 minutes, it’s an incredibly efficient workout. But that doesn’t mean you have to put your other favorite group fitness classes on the back burner. Whether you’re a regular at Circuit Breaker, Pilates, or cycling, those classes will only make you a stronger boxer.
