HONOR A RUNNING LEGEND.

“In honor of Black History Month, this run pays homage to track and field legend Jesse Owens,” says Bryce Michael Wood, of his Buckeye Bullet Precision Run on Equinox+. “[Jesse] had the greatest and most impressive 45 minutes in track and field history at the University of Michigan, breaking multiple world records.” Try segment two from the run, inspired by the 200-meter hurdles:
  • Start at 2mph below your PR (your top speed for 1 minute) at a 4% incline for 1 minute.
  • Recover for 1 minute.
  • Add .2 mph to your speed and subtract 1% from your incline for 1 minute.
  • Recover for 1 minute.
  • Continue adding .2 mph and subtracting 1% from your incline until you reach 1.2 mph below your PR at 0% incline.

PLAN FOR PLATEAUS.

“Momentum is about consistency and planning for me,” says Rachel Ma, a Tier 3+ trainer at Flatiron in New York City. “Progress won't always be super obvious, and there will be days when the scale won't budge or you won't be able to lift heavier, but as long as you have a plan to work through those plateaus, and have the consistency to execute the plan, you'll preserve that momentum.”
