Elevate the BEC.
Your breakfast sandwich can handle some spice. Cook an egg white frittata in spiced tomato oil then layer onto whole-grain toast (or homemade sourdough). Finish with avocado and repeat next weekend.
Protect your bands.
Resistance bands can backfire if they’re old or you don’t secure them properly.
There are a few signs of a ready-to-snap band, says Keith Irace, vice president of group fitness for Equinox in New York City. If yours feels dry, brittle, or if it has any nicks, ragged edges, or tears, toss it.
When securing your band, avoid table legs and other anchor points that could shift around, Irace says. If you’re attaching it with a door anchor (the safest option), lock the door to make sure it won’t swing open mid-workout.
Hide your roots.
Your hair can grow up to half an inch a month, leading to some serious roots, says Mark Townsend, LA-based celebrity hair stylist.
Before video calls, Townsend suggests using Rita Hazan Root Concealer Touch Up Spray. (For DIY cover-up, other experts use pressed face powder for blondes, or powdered eyebrow palettes for darker hair colors.) And call your colorist to see if the salon is sending dye kits to clients, like many are, Townsend says.
For the best on-screen look, Townsend always turns off the lights behind him (they’ll only highlight flyaways). His biggest secret: Place your laptop on something white, like a marble countertop, sheet, or even pieces of paper. This will reflect light up to your face, helping hide rogue roots.
