Doing so can lead to a healthier meal, according to research in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied. When you know ahead of time that you’re going to indulge after lunch or dinner, you’ll be more inclined to avoid overeating, says Jonathan Dick, a London-based Tier X coach and master instructor at the Equinox Fitness Training Institute.
Power with flowers.
“Floral design should reflect your spirit and the season,” says LauraJean Pecci, founder of LauraJean Floral in Cambridge, Massachusetts. For homemade bouquets, use blooms with firm, green stems and follow Pecci’s tips:
1. Cut stems at an angle above their leaf points/knuckles for better water consumption.
2. Add fruits and vegetables on the vine (like grapes, strawberries, and tomatoes) for a farm-fresh look.
3. Don’t overpack the vase: Embrace a sense of movement with negative space and asymmetry.
4. As you build the arrangement, turn the vase to make sure the combinations work at all angles.
