SEE GREEN.

“Green is our heart’s natural color of love,” says Yemie Sonuga in her Choose Yourself HeadStrong meditation on Variis. Get comfortable where you are and picture your joy as the color green. “Perhaps to you, green is like the smell of the first rain on a once-hot summer’s day. Or maybe it’s the feeling of hugging a loved one you haven’t seen in a long time. Whatever your green may be, see that green light pulsing, glowing, right above your heart’s space. From your heart allow strands of that green light to trace the paths of your circulatory system. Your circulatory system allows blood to flow and transports nutrients, oxygen, and now these strands of joy to every cell in your body.”

FEED YOUR GUT BITTER VEGGIES.

In addition to fermented foods, which contain natural probiotics, bitter vegetables should be a frequent part of your diet, according to Jeffrey Morrison, M.D., founder of The Morrison Group in New York City and member of the Equinox Health Advisory Board. Ingredients like bok choy, Chinese broccoli (also called gai lan), bitter melon, and horseradish are all excellent for gut health, says Morrison, as they improve digestive immune function, encourage growth of good bacteria, and discourage growth of bad bacteria. Bok choy, Chinese broccoli, and bitter melon all make good additions to a stir-fry, while horseradish can be used in marinades, dressings, and sauces.

REFLECT ON DRY JANUARY.

There are pros to having a fully immersive experience, like “Dry January” or going vegan for 30 days, said Jonathan Dick, Tier X manager in London, in a recent EQX Talk. The key: Take the time to reflect on what you learned about yourself, and what aspects of the challenge you can make a part of your lifestyle going forward. For example, maybe you’ll keep two nights a week meat-free, or decide to only drink socially in February.

This series from Google Arts & Culture features famous musicians talking about their favorite pieces of art. The second season includes FKA twigs reflecting on a feminine 17th century painting, Ellie Goulding exploring a Cy Twombly work, and J. Balvin celebrating his Colombian heritage through a piece by Fernando Botero. After watching the short videos, you can dive deeper into the works themselves and learn about historical details and the artists’ inspiration.
