RUN BOSTON HILLS.
WE'LL ADDRESS PROBLEMATIC EATING HABITS.
After a year of turmoil and stress, people’s nutritional health is reeling, says Krista Scott-Dixon, PhD, Precision Nutrition’s Vancouver-based director of curriculum. “Disordered eating emerged from the pandemic and the suckage of 2020—whether that's being quarantined and bored with snacks or eating to manage the distress of all the events.” In addition to the ultimate (safe) return of dining out as social activity, Scott-Dixon predicts that 2021 will see us unpacking negative dietary patterns.
WE’LL REINTEGRATE IRL.
“As the world slowly returns to normal, look for the focus to shift from digital back to physical, with the path forward combining the best of both worlds,” says Matt Delaney, Equinox’s national manager of innovation.
“The pandemic may have taught us a 15-minute HIIT class in your living room can provide an effective workout, but it is not a long-term replacement for an IRL experience. People come to the club for more than fitness and it’s the intangibles this setting provides that many will reprioritize: The feeling of community and being surrounded by like-minded individuals, the support of a studio full of people moving and sweating together, or the sense of purpose that comes with having somewhere to go and something to do. These things (and many others) are what we need the most right now."
PLAY “WHAT CAME FIRST?”
This experiment, called “What Came First?,” tests your knowledge of cultural history. Created by Google Arts & Culture, it positions two phenomena (for example, the founding of Nirvana versus the invention of The Rubik’s Cube) for guessing which is older. The faster you go, the more points you can accrue. Play here.
